A new range of contemporary carpets designed by Santamaria will be produced this summer by Kyoto-based company Prevell Corporation. The three designs are based on the ancient Chinese characters that symbolize rain, water and earth. It is a real privilege to have the opportunity to work for such a demanding market. Japanese are very particular about the quality, style and feel of carpets as they take their shoes off in houses and usually sit on the floor. We are also exploring the possibility of developing further designs for Asia and Europe which will be manufactured using traditional chinese hand-woven techniques.
