Our continent and the New Europe emerging within its borders face a complex process of redefinition and design. As European designers we have the honour, as well as the responsibility, of participating in this process. As a form of communication, graphic design is ideal for bridging the differences in the languages, cultures and histories of the countries and peoples that make up this emerging community. Perhaps future generations are going to be proud of our pioneering efforts, the results of which will be of direct benefit to them. Santamaria was honoured by the invitation to be part of this exhibition, which is a vivid documentation of the variety of styles, approaches and cultures, and celebrates the richness of Europe.
